Quadriceps (Musculus quadriceps femoris)

The four-headed muscle group on the front of the thigh; straightens the knee.

Function
Knee extension; the rectus femoris also assists hip flexion.
Origin
Rectus femoris: anterior inferior iliac spine; the vastii: shaft of the femur.
Insertion
Tibial tuberosity via the patella (patellar ligament).
